Novel Polycystin-2 regulation of ezrin in renal epithelia reveals insights into ADPKD cystogenesis
Good and bad consequences of proximal tubular dysfunction: lessons from human genetics
The focus of our group is the analysis of epigenetic modifications and regulatory networks of renal function and disease. We are using transgenic mouse models to investigate epigenetic signatures and regulators in renal podocytes, the most fragile components of the glomerular filtration barrier. We aim to identify novel therapeutic targets to prevent the aging-associated decline of renal function and the progression of chronic kidney disease.
We regularly accept medical students with a strong interest in research for their work on a thesis (Doktorarbeit) in our lab. If you are interested to join and would like to know more about current medical thesis projects, please email wibke.bechtel(at)uniklinik-freiburg.de.
