CRC 1453 Seminar Series - Distinguished Speaker Professor Katalin Susztak – Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, USA
Topic: Going from kidney function GWAS to kidney disease mechanism
Wibke Bechtel-Walz
Welcome
The focus of our group is the analysis of epigenetic modifications and regulatory networks of renal function and disease. We are using transgenic mouse models to investigate epigenetic signatures and regulators in renal podocytes, the most fragile components of the glomerular filtration barrier. We aim to identify novel therapeutic targets to prevent the aging-associated decline of renal function and the progression of chronic kidney disease.
Medical Students
We regularly accept medical students with a strong interest in research for their work on a thesis (Doktorarbeit) in our lab. If you are interested to join and would like to know more about current medical thesis projects, please email wibke.bechtel(at)uniklinik-freiburg.de.
